How Well Does The Toro 1800 Power Curve Perform?

The Toro Power Curve is said to clear a path 18 inches wide and 12 inches deep. One owner says that he has used this machine to easily clear 10 inches of snow and he has used it to clear up to 18 inches of snow.  Toro 1800 Electric Snow Thrower

The Toro 1800 electric snow thrower has:

  • 15 amp electric motor that moves up to 700 pounds of snow per minute.

  • Complete control of which direction the snow is blown.

  • It can launch the snow up to 30 feet.

The Toro 1800 allows you to clear the snow is less than half the time it would take you to shovel it. And you can save a great deal of money if you use this powerful snow blower rather than paying to have your place plowed by someone else.

While it does not clear the heavy, wet snow all that well it does clear fresh snowfalls very well. You can even clear driveway entrances plowed-in by trucks, if you “shave” the mass at an angle.

The owner who shared this was very happy to report that 10 to 12 inch snowfalls were not a problem for this machine. And he should know considering he had 85 inches of snow so far last year when he wrote his review.

While others also stated that although you need to nurse this snow thrower along in the heavier snow the benefits still make this machine worth it. It is so much lighter to work with than a gas powered one and it is convenient to use and convenient to store.

The fact that people who have had the same machine for 7 or more years are now coming back to buy the same model tells you that it works.

The Toro 1800 Power Curve Is Easy To Use

Toro 38381 Electric Snow ThrowerThis machine can be used by just about anyone since it is easy to maneuver and weighs only 25 pounds. Several retired folks tell me they love this electric snow blower  because they can use it so easily. Just plug it in and go!

And since you do not need to be worried about gas leaks or gas odors, you can store this machine wherever you want. With the fold down handle, this machine does not take much room at all in your garage.

The assembly is simple. Five minutes to put the handle on and attach the levers.

Tips on using the Toro 38361 Power Shovel

Below I have listed a few tips that current owners share about using the Toro power shovel:

  •  Clean the snow up as soon as possible. The lighter the snow is the easier it is to remove.

  •  If you are expecting over 10 inches, you may want to plan on going out there twice rather than waiting until the snow is piled up high.

  •  Use a shovel to clear out a good starting point for the machine so that it is sitting flat and you can maneuver it a bit.

  •  Keep the extension cords tangle free.

Accessories needed for the Toro 1800 Power Curve

Several people who own this machine recommend a 100 foot 12 gauge cold weather extension cord. Longer distances away from an outlet require heavier gauge extension cords to make sure you’re getting enough power, and cold weather rated extension cords handle below freezing temperatures better than others.

The Toro owner’s manual suggests the following:

Electric Cord For Snowblowers

Pros & Cons

product name prosPros:

This electric snow blower is easy to store, easy to transport, quiet and lightweight (anyone can handle it)

The snow is thrown an impressive distance and the chute is easy to work with.

It is simple to unpack and assemble – less than 5 minutes needed
There is NO maintenance or gas/oil needed.

This Toro power curve is perfect for areas with light snowfall and can be used on a wood deck or even on a roof.

product name consCons:

- You need to keep the trigger squeezed while you are running it – this can tire your hand out. Many people recommended having thinner gloves on to make this easier – bulkier gloves seem to make holding this down more difficult.

-Does not work as quickly as a gas snowblower. This is not really a problem as long as you have your expectations for this snowblower are realistic.

- Expect to go through twice if you have snow higher than 9 inches.
